Educating young women in the Franciscan tradition

Liturgy

Mount Alvernia College

A number of times throughout the year the whole community comes together to celebrate our Catholic and Franciscan traditions. Our academic year always begins with the Welcome Assembly including the induction of our College Leaders, and the Opening Community Mass including the commissioning of the College Captains. We conclude the year with the Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass and an end-of-year Thanksgiving Liturgy.

The students and staff also participate in morning and lunchtime prayer services and Masses several times during the year. We are fortunate to enjoy the warm embrace of our Franciscan ‘friends on the hill’, thus the Little Flower Parish Priest or the Chaplain from Padua is the celebrant at our liturgical celebrations. The student liturgy committee is encouraged to serve in this ministry by taking part in the design, organisation, participation and running of our liturgical events.
