College Governance
Mount Alvernia College is a company limited by guarantee, governed under the sponsorship of Mercy Partners – the Member Company. In July 2017 the Missionary Franciscan Sisters transferred sponsorship of the College to Mercy Partners, an established Catholic Canonical entity.
Mercy Partners is governed by a Board of Directors. Alongside the Board is a group of Stewards made up of Leaders or Representatives of Religious Congregations who have ministries in Mercy Partners. A significant role of the Mercy Partners Board and Stewards is to support the College to remain true to its Franciscan heritage and faithful to the charism and educational philosophy of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.
The Board of Directors of Mount Alvernia College is appointed by Mercy Partners to govern the College in the areas of Mission and Ethos, Strategic Planning, Finance, Policy, Property and Compliance, and Risk Management. The Mercy Partners Board approves the appointment of the Principal of the College, in consultation with the Directors of Mount Alvernia College. The management of the College is delegated to the Principal.
