See what our students say

Francis and Clare’s compelling spirituality continues to be nourishing and accessible to the Mount Alvernia College staff, students and community in our everyday, ordinary actions of life and in our relationship with our fragile earth. Our young women are exceptional examples of the Franciscan spirit of service, compassion, love, and respect. They give of themselves to our retreat program, but most notably to our dream of a compelling outreach program.

The outreach program at Mount Alvernia College provides the whole community with the opportunity to hear and respond to the wisdom of Jesus, Saint Francis, and Saint Clare of Assisi by serving others. We offer our young women and staff the opportunity to live their faith in action by participating in:

  • Being Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Ministers of the Word
  • Altar Serving
  • Music Ministry at community celebrations of Eucharist and at Delamore Retirement Community
  • Partnerships with external ministries – St Vincent de Paul, Catholic Mission, and Caritas Australia
  • Leading ‘Franciscan Five’ meditation.

Our community outreach is explained in more detail in Community Outreach Partnerships and Sponsorship.
