Location And Facilities

Upon arrival at Mount Alvernia College you will walk through our beautiful, ornamental and edible kitchen garden to see the modern façade behind.  To your right is a state-of-the art home economics facility and La Cucina, our very own Italian-inspired canteen and café for staff and students.  Polished concrete floors blend with wall-to-wall glass and architecturally inspired design. Our physical environment sets the scene for the College – modern, practical and innovative.

Mount Alvernia College is located at 82 Cremorne Road, Kedron. It is close to major arterial roads and public transport.

Over the last few years the College has undergone major refurbishment and new building development to create purposeful facilities that enable students to undertake practical tuition in specialist and generalist areas.  A master building plan has been commissioned by the College to guide future development.

Specialist facilities that are equipped with modern resources and equipment include:

• LaVerna Wing – incorporating airy, spacious, well-equipped classroom spaces
• Anthony Wing – incorporating state-of-the-art home economics cooking facilities, science laboratories and flexible learning spaces
• Learning Resource Centre (iCentre) with computer, laptop, print, and audio-visual resources and equipment
• Computer technology, including onsite support for student technological devices; internet access in all classrooms; wireless access throughout the College; a suite of software to support multi-media presentations; quantities of digital still and video cameras to support video editing and animation projects; class set of graphics tablets; interactive whiteboards/televisions. Student Enrichment and Advancement Centre with resources for learning support, enrichment, and extension activities.

• Outdoor 25-metre swimming pool

Resources and facilities are being constantly upgraded and the College is well supported in this approach by parents and the activities of the Parents and Friends Support Network (P&FSN).
