International Women’s Day Breakfast

March 6 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am

| $20

It is with great pleasure that we invite students and friends of Mount Alvernia College, together with their mothers or significant women in their lives, to attend a literary breakfast in celebration of International Women’s Day.

This year we are very excited that Heather Morris will join us as the keynote speaker at our International Women’s Day Breakfast.  Heather’s first novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, is based on the true story of Lale Sokolov, who was forced to tattoo numbers on his fellow concentration camp detainees’ arms.  The novel has sold more than four million copies worldwide.  Her second novel, Cilka’s Journey, follows the story of one of the key characters from The Tattooist of Auschwitz – teenager Cilka Klein, who saved tattooist Lale Sokolov’s life.

The breakfast will be an event in our Read Like a Girl program.

Read Like a Girl is a community partnership for the literacy advancement of girls.  Riverbend Books is a community partner in this project.  This project encapsulates a calendar of reading events aimed at instilling a foundation and love of reading in the college community and, more broadly, among girls.

Riverbend Books will have a pop-up book stall at the breakfast where guests can purchase any of Heather’s books, as well as newly published or very popular Young Adult and general fiction titles.
