Welcome to Mount Alvernia College, Queensland’s only Catholic secondary school (Years 7-12) educating young women in the Franciscan tradition – dedicated to developing the next generation of audacious, aspiring and authentic women.
Located at Kedron, a short 10 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, Mount Alvernia College offers a girls only Catholic education for over 950 students in Years 7 to 12.
As one of Brisbane leading Catholic girls’ schools, students are provided with a well-rounded education through academic challenge; a variety of sporting and cultural endeavours; and meaningful social justice programs.
Mount Alvernia graduates distinguish themselves through their capacity to serve the community and use wise, ethical leadership. They come to know themselves and their purpose in life by attaining the gospel values of courage, service, respect and joy.
At Mount Alvernia College we offer a contemporary and forward-thinking pedagogical practice approach. We harness the unique capabilities of each student, guiding them into adulthood as a leader in their community. Our curriculum whilst challenging, offers students a vast range of academic and vocational pathways – it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
We pride ourselves in fostering the growth of highly developed, emotionally resilient women of courage and distinction. With a core focus on producing audacious, aspiring and authentic young people, students are well-equipped critical thinkers, emulating a ‘we not me’ approach to life. We simply exist to empower young women to be hope-filled with a desire for learning and life – equipped to transform the world.
Operated by Mercy Partners and governed by an Incorporated Board (Mount Alvernia College Limited), we have close to 70 years of Franciscan heritage behind us with exciting plans for our future and for the members of our community.
In true Franciscan hospitality, we welcome all families to Mount Alvernia College, to see what life is like at one of Brisbane’s leading private girls’ schools.
